Monitoring soils of the Wyeswood Nature Reserve, Wye Valley, Gwent.

'Wyeswood Common' Nature Reserve is a former intensively managed dairy farm that was recently acquired by the Gwent Wildlife Trust with the long-term aim of creating a mosaic of woodland and species-rich grassland, i.e., wood-pasture.

We are carrying out soil monitoring to record soil physical properties and assess initial changes in soil nutrient levels and carbon stocks. Interpretation of the soil analyses data is helping to inform management decisions on individual fields.
