Conservation management of upland species-rich meadows, Elan Valley, Powys.
In this long-term project on the conservation management of a range of highly species-rich upland SSSI hay- meadows we are monitoring experimental plots to determine the appropriate levels of fertiliser inputs (farmyard manure and lime) to achieve an optimum compromise between maximising hay production while at the same time maintaining high levels of biodiversity.
