  Coastal heath resoration, Marloes, Pembrokeshire.

In this project we conducted an experimental study to evaluate practical techniques for restoring coastal heathland communities from agricultural land. For the successful restoration of such historically and aesthetically important ecosystems such as heathlands it is important to identify the best combinations of managements (top-soil stripping, soil acidification, heather seed application) to achieve the most desirable development of target plant communities. We were involved in monitoring annual changes in soil nutrient levels and the development of heathland vegetation to determine the most effective restoration techniques.

Customer: Countryside Council for Wales (2004 – 2009).
